Korean entertainment pages report reach in superlatives. We can only report what we can count, so we count one thing: whether English Wikipedia reading actually moved — measured against the same person's own bandmates in the same week.
Two events. That is the sample. This page grows as we record more, and every figure here is a count of page views, not a claim about why anyone opened anything.
Measure one person alone and any ordinary drift becomes an event. If the reading of every member of a group falls the same week, nothing happened to the one you were watching — the group drifted. So each event is measured twice: the person, and their group as a control. The number that matters is what is left over.
Gucci unveiled its Primavera campaign with Jin in it. Korean coverage called him the most-searched person in the world that week.
| Seven days before | 1,958 a day |
|---|---|
| Seven days from the event | 1,794 a day |
| On the day itself | 1,890 |
| Their own change | 0.92× |
| Bandmates, same weeks | 0.91× |
| What is left over | no change (1.01×) |
Controls: RM 0.9× · Suga 0.87× · J-Hope 0.9× · Jimin 0.95× · V 0.91×. Dropped: Jung Kook, because their own recorded event (Birthday and concert, 2026-09-01) falls inside this window. A control with an event of their own inside the window is not a control.
Where the date comes from: Campaign date from Gucci Primavera coverage, 25 August 2026. The most-searched claim is a Korean press line we quote, not a figure we measured — Google search volume is not something we can count.
Jung Kook turned 29 on the night BTS opened four shows at SoFi Stadium; the band sang happy birthday on stage.
| Seven days before | 3,758 a day |
|---|---|
| Seven days from the event | 5,043 a day |
| On the day itself | 7,996 |
| Their own change | 1.34× |
| Bandmates, same weeks | 0.99× |
| What is left over | up 1.35× |
Controls: RM 1.03× · Suga 1.01× · J-Hope 0.97× · Jimin 0.98× · V 0.98×. Dropped: Jin, because their own recorded event (Brand campaign, 2026-08-25) falls inside this window. A control with an event of their own inside the window is not a control.
Where the date comes from: Date is his birth date on record, and the SoFi Stadium show that night is in the tour schedule. We take the date as the reason for asking, not as something we measured.
| Event | Kind | Left over | Peak day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jin, 2026-08-25 | Brand campaign | 1.01× | 2026-08-23 · 2,549 |
| Jung Kook, 2026-09-01 | Birthday and concert | 1.35× | 2026-09-01 · 7,996 |
A luxury house's global campaign, reported in Korea as making him the most-searched person in the world, left 1.01× once his bandmates are accounted for — which is to say, nothing. A birthday left 1.35×, and on the day itself the reading was 7,996, against 3,758 in the week before.
We are not saying the campaign failed. Selling a $9,900 jacket and being read about on Wikipedia are different things, and only the second one is ours to count. What the comparison does show is that a superlative in a headline and a measurable rise are not the same object, and only one of them can be checked.

Korean pages carried four Jin stories in one day, one calling him the most-searched person in the world for Gucci. We cannot count Google searches, so we counted English Wikipedia reads against his own bandmates.
