Across our 2,371-person K-pop panel, actor Seo Kang-joon's most recent seven-day reading average came in at 2.59x his 30-day average — one of the sharpest rises in the panel, and one we could not attach to a specific news event.

Most weeks, most people in our 2,371-person K-pop reading panel stay close to their own 30-day average. Actor Seo Kang-joon didn’t. His most recent seven days on our books (9-15 September 2026) averaged 4,019 English Wikipedia views a day — 2.59 times his 30-day average of 1,552.
What we measured, and what we didn’t find
We only compared his own recent week against his own longer baseline — not against other actors, and not against a claim of causation. We looked for a news event that would explain a rise of this size starting in early September and did not find one we could confirm well enough to cite. That doesn’t mean nothing happened; it means we’re not attaching a cause to a number we can’t independently source. We’re publishing the measured rise and marking the “why” as unexplained rather than guessing.

Why we screen out low-base names
Ratios like this can be misleading when the starting number is tiny — a rise from 2 views a day to 5 is “2.5x” but meaningless. We limited this comparison to panel members averaging at least 50 views a day over the full 30 days, so the ratios reported are built on a base large enough that a multi-day sample isn’t just noise. Seo Kang-joon’s 1,552-view baseline clears that bar comfortably.

What we left out, and why
- A cause for the rise. We searched for a news item naming Seo Kang-joon in the days the rise begins and did not find one we could confirm — we are reporting the measured change, not an explanation for it.
- A claim that this rise will continue. A 7-day window inside a 30-day one is a short-term read; we are not forecasting where reading goes next.
- Any comparison implying this is the single highest riser in the full panel — we screened for names with a 50-or-higher 30-day daily average, to avoid a near-zero base turning a tiny absolute change into a large ratio.
