Katseye, the six-member group formed through HYBE and Geffen Records’ global girl-group project, saw the music video for “Animal” pass 100 million views on YouTube on 16 September 2026. We checked whether that milestone showed up as a rise in how often people looked the group up on English Wikipedia.

What we measured

We pulled Katseye’s daily English Wikipedia pageviews for the 29 days ending 17 September 2026, using the 24 days before the milestone (20 August-12 September) as a baseline.

Views vs. baseline
Baseline average (20 Aug-12 Sep) 21,573
16 Sep (100M-view day) 13,279 0.62x
17 Sep (day after) 13,847 0.64x

Reading on the milestone day was the fourth-lowest of the 29 days we measured. It did not recover the next day either.

The bigger picture — this wasn’t a one-day dip

Katseye’s English Wikipedia reading has been drifting down since late August, independent of this milestone. The first ten days of our window (20-29 August) averaged 25,802 views a day; the six days from 12-17 September averaged 15,022 — a decline already well underway before “Animal” crossed 100 million views. The milestone day’s low reading fits inside that longer slide rather than standing apart from it. We’re not attributing the decline to the milestone, or to any single cause — only reporting that a widely covered platform record did not interrupt it.

What we checked

  • 24-day baseline (20 August-12 September 2026): Katseye's English Wikipedia page averaged 21,573 views a day.
  • 16 September, the day 'Animal' passed 100 million YouTube views: 13,279 views, 0.62x baseline — the fourth-lowest day in our entire 29-day window.
  • 17 September (the day after): 13,847 views, 0.64x baseline. Reading stayed below the baseline on both the milestone day and the day after.

What we left out, and why

  • YouTube's own view count, which comes from YouTube's platform, not our measurement.
  • Any reading of falling Wikipedia views as falling interest in Katseye generally. The group's reading has been on a broader downward drift since late August — 20-29 August averaged 26,904 views a day against 12-17 September's 15,401 — and the milestone day sits inside that same drift, not apart from it.
  • A comparison to any other multinational or US-based K-pop-adjacent act. We measured Katseye only.
