We Found the Cause of Seo Kang-joon's Reading Spike. His Co-Star's Reading Moved the Same Way.
Last week we reported Seo Kang-joon's English Wikipedia reading had risen 2.59x and said we could not find why. A new drama premiere we missed explains it — and his co-star's reading rose on the same days, for the same reason.

Last week we published a piece we titled honestly: Seo Kang-joon’s English Wikipedia reading had risen 2.59x in a week, and we said we could not find a news event that explained it. We were wrong to say we could not find one — we had not looked for the right one.
A new KBS2 weekend drama, You, Romance Other Than You (너 말고 다른 연애), premiered on 12 September 2026. Seo Kang-joon plays one of the two leads. His single highest reading day in our full 30-day window was 13 September — the day after the premiere.
The check we didn’t have last week: a co-star moved too
His co-star, Ahn Eun-jin, plays the other lead. Her reading rose as well, peaking on 14 September — two days after the same premiere.

Both actors’ 30-day-window peak-view day falls in the two days immediately after the same premiere date. A single actor’s reading rising after a drama airs could be coincidence, a different news item, or noise. Two credited co-stars in the same new drama, peaking within a day of each other and of the premiere, is a harder coincidence to construct.
What this means for how we report “unexplained” rises
Last week’s piece marked the cause as “excluded” — something we looked for and didn’t find, not something we ruled out. That distinction held: the cause existed, we simply hadn’t searched for a premiere date instead of a news event. We are not deleting or quietly editing that piece; we are publishing this one as a follow-up, the same way we handled an earlier case where we could not check a same-day reaction and later could.
The two actors’ rises are not identical in size — 6.24x against 4.27x — which is itself a finding: shared exposure to the same premiere does not move two people’s reading by the same amount. We are not attaching a reason to that gap; we are reporting that it exists.
Method
We took a 30-day window (21 August-19 September 2026) of daily English Wikipedia pageviews for both actors from our K-pop and actor panels, compared the first 7 days against the last 7, and checked each actor’s single highest-viewed day against the drama’s public premiere date. Not investment advice; not a viewership-rating claim.

What we checked
- The drama premiered 12 September 2026. Seo Kang-joon's single highest day in our 30-day window was 13 September (7,856 views); Ahn Eun-jin's was 14 September (6,260 views) — both fall immediately after the premiere, not before it.
- Comparing the first 7 days of our 30-day window (21-27 August, before the premiere) against the last 7 days (13-19 September, after it): Seo Kang-joon rose 6.24x and Ahn Eun-jin rose 4.27x.
- Both actors are credited leads in the same drama, playing a couple (Nam-gung Ho and Lee Mi-do) — a second person's reading moving on the same dates, for a name we did not search when writing the first article, is the check we did not have last week.
What we left out, and why
- Confirmation from a network-published viewership rating for the drama's early episodes — we are citing the premiere date and the reading data, not the show's audience-rating numbers, which we have not verified
- A claim that the drama alone explains the full size of the rise for either actor — other coverage in the same window (interviews, appearances) could contribute; we checked for one shared, dated event and found it explains the timing
- Any view on whether the drama will keep drawing this level of reading — this is a two-actor, one-week comparison, not a forecast
