Blackpink's Lisa Reads Higher in English Than Any BTS Member — Our Own Panel Missed Her
Checking a current list of prominent K-pop acts against our English Wikipedia panel, one name came back blank: Lisa. Pulled by hand, her 30-day total beats every BTS member we track — and every other Blackpink member too.

We track how much English-language attention K-pop performers get by pulling English Wikipedia pageviews for a panel built from Wikidata: anyone with South Korean citizenship working as a singer, rapper, composer or musician, plus members of groups registered as originating in South Korea. It’s a clean rule, and on 15 September 2026 it matched 2,371 people and groups with zero left unresolved.
While reviewing a current list of prominent K-pop acts this week, we checked whether Lisa — of Blackpink, one of the most internationally visible K-pop performers by any casual measure — was in that panel. She wasn’t.
What we found when we pulled her by hand
Her real English Wikipedia title is “Lisa (rapper).” Over the same 30-day window our panel uses (17 August-15 September 2026), her page drew 151,508 views — an average of 5,050 a day.
That is higher than every individual BTS member our panel tracks over the identical window:

Lisa’s total is not higher than BTS’s seven members combined (496,034 added by hand from the table above). But individually, she outreads all seven of them, and her own bandmate, over the same 30 days.
Why she wasn’t in our panel
Not an oversight — a rule doing exactly what we told it to do. Our Wikidata query screens for South Korean citizenship. Lisa, born Lalisa Manobal, holds Thai citizenship. She debuted, trained and built her career inside a South Korean group, but our citizenship filter has no way to know that; it only checks the passport field.
We haven’t yet gone back and counted how many other non-Korean members of Korean-registered groups this same filter drops. Lisa surfaced because we happened to look for her by name this week, not because we ran a systematic check. That check is next; we’re not estimating a number for it here.

What we checked
- Panel query, 17 Aug-15 Sep 2026: 2,371 people and groups matched, 0 unresolved. Lisa was not among them.
- Direct pull for the same 30-day window, 'Lisa (rapper)' (her actual English Wikipedia title): 151,508 views, 5,050/day average.
- The seven BTS members in our panel over the same window: Jung Kook 110,341, V 107,190, RM 62,637, Suga 53,713, Jin 55,153, Jimin 61,069, J-Hope 45,931.
- Lisa's bandmate Jennie (in-panel): 100,000 over the same 30 days — also below Lisa's total.
- Lisa's 151,508 is higher than every one of those eight figures individually. It is not higher than BTS's combined total (all seven members, 496,034).
What we left out, and why
- Why our panel missed her, confirmed rather than guessed: Lisa holds Thai citizenship. Our query filters people by P27 = South Korea, so a citizenship-based screen excludes a Korean-group member who is not a South Korean national.
- How many other non-Korean members of Korean-registered groups our panel is similarly missing. We checked this one name by hand because it came up in a current list of prominent K-pop acts we were reviewing; we have not yet run a systematic count of every foreign-national idol our citizenship filter drops. Until we do, we don't know if Lisa is a rare case or one of many.
- Any explanation for why Lisa specifically reads this high — a solo career, brand endorsements, and other English-language coverage all plausibly contribute, but we did not isolate a cause. We are reporting the reading total and the reason she was invisible to us, not why she is popular.
- Blackpink's other two members, Jisoo and Rosé, and any group-wide Blackpink total. This piece is about one name our method dropped, not a full Blackpink readout.
