ILLIT Just Had Its Third Song Pass 100 Million Streams in Japan. English Wikipedia Didn't Register It.
Agency BELIFT LAB confirmed on 16 September that ILLIT's 'It's Me' had passed 100 million streams in Japan — the group's third song to do so. English Wikipedia reading of ILLIT that day sat at 0.93x its 30-day average.

ILLIT picked up its third 100-million-stream milestone in Japan on 16 September, when agency BELIFT LAB confirmed “It’s Me” — the title track of the group’s fourth mini album — had passed the mark, following “Magnetic” and “Almond Chocolate.” Three separate songs clearing 100 million Japanese streams is, by any measure, a sign the group has a durable audience there.
We checked whether the announcement moved how often English-speaking readers looked ILLIT up on Wikipedia. It didn’t. Over the 30 days ending 16 September, ILLIT’s page drew an average of 1,731 views a day. On 16 September itself, it drew 1,614 — 0.93 times average, on the low side of a normal day, not the high side.
For context, the busiest day in our window was 19 August at 2,303 views (1.33x baseline), and the quietest was 31 August at 1,445 (0.84x). The milestone day falls comfortably inside that everyday range — nothing about it stands out.
We’re not reading this as ILLIT’s Japan success being small. It’s a genuinely large number, independently confirmed by the group’s own label. It’s simply a separate audience from the one that searches for a group’s name on English Wikipedia — and this week, that second audience didn’t react.

What we left out, and why
- The Japan stream counts themselves, or a comparison across 'Magnetic,' 'Almond Chocolate' and 'It's Me' — that would need each song's own announcement date pulled from Japanese-language sources, which we did not do for this piece.
- Any claim that the achievement doesn't matter to ILLIT's Japanese audience. We hold one measurement — English Wikipedia lookups — and Japan streaming success and English-language reference lookups are two different audiences answering two different questions.
