T1 v KC: one player out-killed the other team
Over the four games, T1’s marksman Peyz played Xayah, Kai’Sa, Jinx and Miss Fortune and finished with 35 kills, 3 deaths and 19 assists. All five Karmine Corp players together made 32 kills.
T1 won game one with 23 kills to 7 and 11 towers to 2, taking two barons and three Hextech dragons. Game two ended 20 kills to 9 with a Hextech soul. KC answered in game three, a low-kill game of 14 kills in total: KC won it 8-6, took the ocean soul and the elder dragon, and secured both of its barons. In game four, T1 collected the Chemtech soul and won 17 kills to 8. Peyz ended it on 11 kills and no deaths.
The kill totals were far apart (66 to 32), but the dragon count was close, 12 to 10. KC’s two barons both came in game three; across the series T1 took five.
This is T1’s sixth straight Worlds semi-final. Its Swiss Stage record was 3-1.
BLG v Dplus KIA: dragons decided it
Dplus KIA went through the Swiss Stage with three wins and no losses, beating G2, T1 and Movistar KOI. In the quarter-final it did not win a game. Bilibili Gaming took 14 of the 15 dragons across the three games, including a soul in each, and led kills 62 to 29. At the end of the three games BLG’s gold leads were 8,796, 6,200 and 10,148.
BLG had a rougher road in: it lost twice in the Swiss Stage, to Movistar KOI in round one and to TES in round four, and reached the quarter-finals by beating Hanwha Life Esports 2-0 in round five. BLG’s mid laner Knight did not die in the first two games.
