Three Twice Members Have Left JYP Since August. Each Exit Tripled Reads of the Twice Article in a Day
Jeongyeon left JYP on 10 August, Chaeyoung on 13 August and Jihyo on 21 October. Each day, English Wikipedia's Twice article went from about 1,550 reads to 4,316–5,565. Jihyo's own page reached 5,220, level with her solo debut day.
Since August, three members of Twice have left JYP Entertainment, the agency that formed the group, while saying they will stay in Twice: Jeongyeon on 10 August, Chaeyoung on 13 August and Jihyo on 21 October.
Each announcement did the same thing to English Wikipedia’s Twice article.
The Twice article on each exit day
| Day | Who left | Twice article reads |
|---|---|---|
| July 2026, typical day | — | 1,548 |
| 10 August | Jeongyeon | 5,565 |
| 13 August | Chaeyoung | 4,316 |
| 21 October | Jihyo | 4,554 |
Each exit roughly tripled reading of the group article for a day. Since 1 July, only one other day has topped 4,000.
The member’s own page
| Member | Day before | Exit day | Day after | Usual day in 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jeongyeon | 421 | 6,453 | 2,510 | 629 |
| Chaeyoung | — | 2,287 (13 Aug) | 2,567 | 449 |
| Jihyo | 566 | 5,220 | 2,146 | 647 |
Jeongyeon’s exit day was her busiest day on English Wikipedia since at least January 2025. Jihyo’s 5,220 reads is almost exactly what she drew on 18 August 2023, the day of her solo debut (5,231). Chaeyoung’s peak came the day after her announcement, on 14 August.
The others were looked up too
On each exit day the members who had not left also rose. When Jeongyeon left, Jihyo’s page had 1,213 reads, nearly double her usual. When Jihyo left, Jeongyeon’s and Chaeyoung’s pages each had about 1,000, one and a half to two times their usual. Readers were checking the whole group, not only the member in the news.
What this does and does not say
English Wikipedia reads measure how many people looked a name up, not how they felt about the news. The jumps last about a day: by the day after, each member’s page had fallen back to between a third and a half of its peak. What the numbers show is that agency news about Twice draws about as much English-language attention as a solo debut, and that it spreads across the group.

What we left out, and why
- The six other members' pages beyond the three named, and Korean-language Wikipedia.
- 23 October onward, not yet published by Wikimedia when we wrote.
- What caused the other spikes (14 July 2026; 3 August 2025). We did not check.
- Contract terms. JYP has not published them; we do not speculate.
