LISA's 'PRESS PLAY' Arrives Today. On English Wikipedia, Her Stages Have Always Outdrawn Her Release Days.

Her EP is out on 23 October. Across 21 months of English Wikipedia reading, her album release day drew under half of an Oscars night three days later. This autumn a single lifted reading to 15,000; the VMAs, to 79,000.

LISA’s EP “PRESS PLAY” is out today, 23 October. It has six tracks, follows the September single “SaWaDiKa,” and is her second solo project after the 2025 album “Alter Ego.” BABYMONSTER, the YG Entertainment group, also releases new music today.

Coverage tends to treat release day as the peak of an artist’s attention. English Wikipedia reading for LISA says otherwise, and says it consistently.

The last album: the release was not the biggest day of its own week

“Alter Ego” came out on 28 February 2025. That day LISA’s English Wikipedia page was read 39,947 times, and the album’s own page had its best day ever at 22,306.

Three days later she performed at the 97th Academy Awards. Her page was read 96,450 times that day — more than double the release day, and the highest single day in the 21 months we measured. Eleven days before the release, the premiere of The White Lotus season 3, in which she acted, had already drawn 83,043.

This autumn: the same shape again

The lead single “SaWaDiKa” was released on 3 September 2026. Reading went from 3,276 the day before to 14,909, then eased back over the following week.

On 27 September she performed the song live for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards. Because Wikimedia counts in UTC, that US evening shows up as 28 September: 79,154 reads, about five times the single’s release day.

Where she stands going into today

Her baseline has risen. Over the 30 days to 21 October her page drew a median of 5,376 reads a day, against 3,433 over the summer, up 57%. That is now higher than the BLACKPINK group page itself, which held steady at about 3,500. She also reads ahead of bandmates Rosé (2,920) and Jisoo (1,842) over the same 30 days.

BABYMONSTER, releasing on the same day, sits at a median of 1,066 reads, down 18% from its summer level of 1,298. The two acts are not competing for the same readers on English Wikipedia: LISA’s ordinary day is five times BABYMONSTER’s.

What this does and does not say

This measures one thing: how many people opened an English-language encyclopedia page. It is a proxy for casual, look-it-up curiosity, not for streams, sales or fandom size, and it cannot say how “PRESS PLAY” will perform. What it does show is a pattern visible across two release cycles. For LISA, the moments that bring new people to her page have been the ones where she appears in front of audiences who were not already waiting for her music. A release on its own has not been one of them.

English Wikipedia pageviews, all-access, user traffic only (bots excluded), daily, 1 January 2025–21 October 2026, measured 23 October 2026. Days are UTC. Medians, not means, for the 30-day and summer comparisons, so a single spike does not carry the window.

What we checked

  • Wikimedia counts days in UTC. A US evening event lands on the next UTC day, so the 27 September VMAs appear as 28 September, and the 2 March 2025 Oscars as 3 March.
  • Alter Ego release day (28 February 2025): Lisa's page 39,947 reads; the album's own page 22,306, its highest day on record.
  • Three days later (3 March 2025 UTC, the night of the 97th Academy Awards, where she performed): Lisa's page 96,450 — the highest single day in the 21 months measured.
  • 17 February 2025 UTC, the day after The White Lotus season 3 premiered with Lisa in the cast: 83,043.
  • SaWaDiKa single, 2026: reading rose from 3,276 on 3 September to 14,909 on 4 September (UTC). VMAs night, 28 September (UTC): 79,154.
  • Median daily reads, 22 September–21 October 2026: Lisa 5,376; Blackpink 3,533; Rosé 2,920; Jisoo 1,842; Babymonster 1,066. Summer baseline, 1 July–1 September 2026: Lisa 3,433; Blackpink 3,693; Babymonster 1,298.

What we left out, and why

  • Reading on 23 October itself and after — the release falls outside the window measured. This article does not predict how the EP will chart or sell.
  • Streaming, sales, YouTube or social-media figures — not measured.
  • Korean-, Thai- or other-language Wikipedia reading — English only.
  • Why stages outdraw releases. A televised awards show reaches people who were not looking for a new record; we did not test that or any other explanation.
  • The VMAs award results reported in some coverage. We could confirm the appearance and performance from the source cited, not the category results, so they are left out.
