Spanish, not Chinese, leads for six of the seven BTS members — Jimin is the exception
Chinese Wikipedia is the most-read edition for 306 of 478 Korean stars. For BTS it leads for none. Spanish tops six of the seven members; Japanese tops Jimin by 4,669 reads over three months.

Two BTS members were in the Korean entertainment headlines this morning: one for a 131-week run at the top of a fan vote, the other for a 22nd number one on a global song chart. Both stories are about where the audience is. So we went to our own measurement of exactly that, and it disagrees with the usual answer.
Across our whole panel — 478 Korean entertainers, 15 language editions, June to August 2026 — the edition that reads them most, with English set aside, is Chinese for 306 of them. For the seven members of BTS, Chinese leads for none.

The concentration is the finding
Spanish leads for only 15 of the 478 people in our panel — 3.1%. Six of those 15 are BTS members. A pattern that is nearly absent across Korean entertainment as a whole is the normal case inside this one group.
That is a stronger statement than “BTS is big in Latin America,” and it is stronger because it is comparative. The same 15 editions, the same three months and the same method give Chinese for two-thirds of Korean stars and Spanish for six of these seven.
Jimin’s margin, printed as a margin
Jimin is the exception, and the exception is narrow: Japanese 43,832 against Spanish 39,163, a gap of 4,669 reads over three months. On a different window it could go the other way.
We are publishing the gap rather than only the winner, because “Japanese leads for Jimin” is a sentence that would survive being wrong, and the number underneath it would not. Anyone who wants to quote this should quote the margin with it.
Jimin is also the member whose third edition is Russian (32,212) rather than German or Chinese — the only one of the seven for whom that is true. We have no explanation and offer none.
What we are not saying
Not that Chinese readers ignore BTS. Jungkook’s Chinese reads are 43,772 and V’s 33,781 — substantial numbers. The claim is only about which edition is highest, and rank is a different thing from volume.
Not that a language is a country. Chinese Wikipedia is blocked in mainland China, so its readers are in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and the diaspora. Spanish spans Spain and Latin America. Every row above is a language edition.
Not why. Fan organisation in Latin America, the editing culture of Spanish Wikipedia and years of promotion decisions would all produce this shape. Pageview counts cannot tell them apart, and we are not going to pick one and call it a finding.
Not the fan-vote or chart claims. Those are why we looked today. We did not check them, and no number in this article comes from them.

What we checked
- All seven members were checked, not a selection. The pattern is six-to-one, and the one is named in the headline rather than left out of it.
- Jimin's margin is small and we publish it as a margin: Japanese 43,832 against Spanish 39,163, a gap of 4,669 reads over three months. A different window could plausibly flip it, and a reader is entitled to know that before quoting the result.
- Chinese leads for 306 of the 478 people in our panel and for none of the seven BTS members. That is the sharpest line in this article, and it is a comparison against our own panel rather than against an outside claim.
- Titles were resolved from Wikidata sitelinks. Every one of the 105 member-edition requests behind this article came back; none was blocked.
What we left out, and why
- Any claim about why Spanish leads. Latin American fan activity, Spanish Wikipedia's editing culture and promotion history would all produce this shape, and pageviews cannot separate them.
- Fan-vote and chart placings reported by the Korean press today. They are the occasion for this article, not evidence in it, and we did not verify them.
