No Seventeen member reaches 28% of the group page. Added up, the thirteen still beat BTS's ratio

Seventeen’s Hoshi tore his anterior cruciate ligament, a Korean entertainment desk reported on 12 September 2026, roughly six months before he is due to complete his military service. It was the day’s largest Seventeen headline by a clear margin. We cannot tell you whether it moved English-language attention to him — the data that would answer that is not ready yet, for reasons below — but the headline is a fair occasion to finish a question our earlier count on BLACKPINK, aespa and BTS left open: does a much bigger group hold together the same way?

Seventeen has thirteen members, more than three times BLACKPINK’s four. So we counted the same thing again: twelve months of English Wikipedia lookups for the group’s own page and for every one of the thirteen members, each title resolved through its redirects and checked to confirm it links back to the group before anything was counted.

Thirteen members, and the biggest is barely a quarter of the group

Mingyu, the most-looked-up member in this window, draws 27.5% of what the group page draws. Compare that against the groups we measured before: BLACKPINK’s Lisa passed her own group page (100.4%), aespa’s Karina reached 65.8%, BTS’s V reached 44.6%. The pattern is a straight line — the bigger the roster, the smaller the largest single share, because thirteen people are splitting attention that four people would not have to.

Add the thirteen up, and the line breaks

If the summed ratio scaled the way the single-member share does, Seventeen’s thirteen should sit at the bottom of this list, well under BTS’s seven. It doesn’t. Seventeen’s members, added together, outweigh their group page by more than BTS’s seven do — despite each individual Seventeen member carrying a much thinner slice. Splitting the same pool of attention across more people does not shrink the pool; it just shrinks everyone’s piece of it.

We ran this exact count five days ago, on a wider panel, and it agrees

On 7 September 2026 we archived a 380-act panel built from Wikidata group and member records, covering a one-year window ending in August. Seventeen was one of the 380, at a members-to-group ratio of 2.43. This piece’s window ends eleven days later and used a fresh Wikipedia pull, title by title, rather than the bulk panel — and lands on 2.43 again, even though the group’s raw total and every member’s raw total shifted in between.

What did not hold steady was the ranking inside the group: Jun led the panel on 7 September; Mingyu leads this window, by about 6,000 lookups on totals each above 125,000. The shape of the group — how much of its attention sits on people rather than the name — is stable. Which person that attention concentrates on, month to month, is not.

What this does not tell you

This count cannot tell you whether Hoshi’s injury moves his numbers, because it can’t see it yet. Wikipedia’s pageview API is not finalized for a day or two after the fact, and this window closes on 11 September — the day before the story ran. That is not a gap we are working around; it is the reason this piece exists in its current form. The pre-injury number is printed here specifically so that a later count has something honest to measure against, rather than a guess dressed as a baseline.

It also cannot tell you anything about chart performance, streaming totals, ticket sales or merchandise — none of which we hold a licence to republish. And it cannot separate a devoted fan’s repeat visit from someone who saw a name in a headline once. It counts lookups, on one encyclopedia, in one language.
