IVE, ILLIT and RIIZE Share an Oct. 26 Comeback Date. English Wikipedia Reading Doesn't Share It Equally.
Korean press is billing October 26 as a three-way K-pop comeback collision. We measured English Wikipedia reading for the three groups over six weeks. One gets roughly double one rival's reads, five times the other's — and has for months.
Korean entertainment coverage has settled on a single frame for the back half of October: three of SM and HYBE’s major girl and boy groups — IVE, ILLIT, and RIIZE — all releasing new music on the same day, 26 October. The Korea Times called it a race heating up; ILLIT has confirmed a fifth mini album, “Break Even,” for that date, and RIIZE has announced a digital single on the same day as a prelude to a 2027 full-length. The framing treats the three as comparable rivals converging on one release date.
English Wikipedia reading, measured independently of any of that coverage, does not treat them as comparable.
The same six weeks, three different levels
| Group | Median daily reads, 1 Sep–15 Oct | Median daily reads, baseline (1 Jul–1 Sep) |
|---|---|---|
| ILLIT | 1,554 | 1,619 |
| IVE | 733 | 875 |
| RIIZE | 312 | 366 |
ILLIT’s English Wikipedia page was read roughly twice as often as IVE’s and about five times as often as RIIZE’s over the six weeks leading into the shared comeback date. The gap is not a one-window fluke: the same ordering, at a similar spread, holds in the 63-day baseline period before it.
Debut order doesn’t explain the gap
If reading interest tracked seniority, IVE — debuted December 2021, the longest-running of the three — would be expected to lead. It does not. ILLIT, the newest group of the three by over two years (debuted March 2024), reads highest in both windows we measured. RIIZE, which debuted in between, reads lowest of the three in both windows.
What hasn’t moved yet
None of the three groups shows a reading uptick through 15 October, the last day in our window, even though comeback details for all three were already public by early October. IVE’s reading eased 16% from the baseline period to the recent one, RIIZE’s 15%, ILLIT’s 4%. Whatever reaction the 26 October release triggers, it isn’t visible yet in the data we have — the comeback itself falls after our measurement window ends.
What this does and doesn’t say
This measures one specific audience: people reading English-language Wikipedia pages, a proxy for casual, reference-style interest rather than committed fandom activity. It says nothing about Korean-language interest, streaming numbers, sales, or how the three comebacks will actually perform against each other after 26 October. What it does say is narrower and harder to get from press coverage alone: going into a release date that headlines are treating as a three-way tie, the three groups were not read anywhere near equally in the weeks before it.
English Wikipedia pageviews, all-access, user traffic only (bots excluded), daily, 1 September–15 October 2026 with a 1 July–1 September 2026 baseline; measured 16 October 2026. Medians, not means, so single days do not carry the whole window.

What we checked
- Median daily English Wikipedia reads, 1 Sep–15 Oct 2026 (45 days): IVE 733, ILLIT 1,554, RIIZE 312.
- Baseline window, 1 Jul–1 Sep 2026 (63 days): IVE 875, ILLIT 1,619, RIIZE 366 — same order, same spread.
- In the most recent window, ILLIT's reading is about 2.1 times IVE's and about 5 times RIIZE's.
- All three eased from baseline to the recent window — IVE −16%, ILLIT −4%, RIIZE −15% — so reading had not picked up through 15 October, ahead of the shared comeback date.
- ILLIT is the youngest of the three (debuted March 2024, versus RIIZE in September 2023 and IVE in December 2021) and reads highest of the three in both windows measured.
What we left out, and why
- Korean-language reading, streaming, sales, or social-media metrics for any of the three groups — not measured here.
- Whether reading interest predicts how the three comebacks chart or sell on and after 26 October. We measured reading before the release, not outcomes after it.
- Why the gap exists. Audience composition, fandom size, and how each comeback was marketed in English-language media could all matter; we did not test any of them.
- Pageviews after 15 October — the shared release date itself falls outside the window we measured.
