'Doctor X' Is Netflix's No. 1 Non-English Show Again. 'Take Charge of My Heart' Was Watched Twice as Many Hours.
Both K-dramas premiered on 9 October. In Netflix's own weekly file, Doctor X tops the chart on views. Take Charge of My Heart logged 67.8 million hours to Doctor X's 30.0 million and charted in 64 countries to its 48.
Netflix’s weekly chart for non-English TV has the same Korean drama on top for a second week: “Doctor X: Mafia in White,” the SBS co-production starring Kim Ji-won. Its rival from the same premiere day, 9 October, sits at No. 2.
Netflix publishes the numbers behind that chart as a downloadable file. Read the file rather than the ranking, and the second-place show is the one people spent far more time watching.
The ranking is by views, and a view depends on length
Netflix ranks its Top 10 by “views”: the hours a title was watched, divided by its runtime. A long show needs more hours to earn the same number of views as a short one.
That is what happened in the week of 12–18 October.
| Show | Rank | Hours viewed | Runtime used | Views |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Doctor X: Mafia in White | 1 | 30.0 million | 4.25 hours | 7.1 million |
| Take Charge of My Heart | 2 | 67.8 million | 10.53 hours | 6.4 million |
Take Charge of My Heart was watched for 2.3 times as many hours. Divided by a runtime two and a half times longer, it came out with fewer views and finished second.
The same gap, two weeks running
Premiere week looked the same. Doctor X ranked first with 9.9 million hours over a runtime of 2.17 hours. Take Charge of My Heart ranked third with 32.0 million hours over 10.53 hours, more than three times the viewing time.
Across the two weeks combined, Take Charge of My Heart has 99.8 million hours to Doctor X’s 39.9 million, roughly two and a half times as much.
Doctor X’s runtime in the file doubled from one week to the next, from 2.17 to 4.25 hours, while Take Charge of My Heart’s stayed at 10.53. That pattern fits a show adding episodes week by week against one released in full. The file only records the runtime Netflix used, so we are inferring the schedule from it rather than reading it there.
Where each show was watched
Netflix’s per-country file gives a second view. In the week of 12–18 October, Doctor X was in the Top 10 in 48 countries and No. 1 in seven, all in Asia: Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam. Take Charge of My Heart was in the Top 10 in 64 countries and No. 1 in one, Peru.
One show is concentrated and leads the region it is strongest in. The other is spread more widely and leads almost nowhere. A single global rank compresses both into a one-place gap.
What this does and does not say
Neither number is the “real” winner. Views reward a show that is short or still being released; hours reward one that is long and fully available. Netflix chose views as its headline measure, and by that measure Doctor X is first. What the file adds is that “first” here means fewer hours watched, not more.

What we left out, and why
- Why Doctor X's listed runtime doubled between weeks. The file only shows the runtime Netflix used; we infer that more episodes became available, but the release schedule itself is from press reports, not the file.
- Viewing on platforms other than Netflix, including Korean broadcast ratings.
- Any forecast of where either show will rank next week.
