1 January is not a real peak. It is the date records fall back on when only a birth year is known, so this count includes people whose real birthday is unknown. We leave it in the table rather than quietly dropping it, but it should not be compared with the other 365 days.

We scattered the same number of birthdays evenly across 366 days 400 times, with a fixed seed (20260904) so the figure can be reproduced. On that footing a single day lands between 17 and 34 people 90% of the time. A count inside that band tells you about the calendar, not about the day.

This is a count, not a verdict. A crowded birthday does not make anyone more likely to become a star, and a thin one does not make anyone less likely. We hold birth dates only for people who already have a Wikidata entry — who reaches an encyclopaedia at all is its own filter, and we did not measure it.
