On 30 August, 75 Korean entertainers were in the Korean Wikipedia's 300 most-read articles. 26 of them have no English Wikipedia article at all. Nineteen of those 26 are singers.

We took Korean Wikipedia’s 300 most-read articles for that day, resolved 294 of them to Wikidata items, and kept the ones that are people with South Korean citizenship: 113 people. Of those, 75 have an entertainment occupation recorded — actor, singer, comedian, director, presenter, YouTuber.
26 of the 75 have no English Wikipedia article. That is 34.7%.

Two names in that list are the same two words — Lee Yong-joo the actor at rank 10 and Lee Yong-joo the comedian at rank 12, two different people reading at nearly the same volume on the same day. Korean Wikipedia distinguishes them with a parenthesis. English Wikipedia has neither.
What the singers have in common
Read down the occupations and the pattern is hard to miss: 19 of the 26 are singers, and several of the names — Choi Baek-ho, Jo Myung-seob, Park Seo-jin, Kim Yong-bin — belong to a genre with a large domestic audience and almost no English-language encyclopedia footprint.
By contrast, every Korean name that reaches an English-language audience through Netflix or a global chart has an English article. Song Kang was 14th on the Korean list that day, with 3,369 reads — 85 fewer than Choi Baek-ho — and he has one.

Why this is the measurement, not the opinion
It would be easy to write this up as a story about what the English-speaking world overlooks. We are not going to, because we did not measure that. What we measured is which articles exist. An encyclopedia article is written by whoever turns up to write it, and its absence records who has been writing, not who deserves attention.
What the count does give you is a denominator: on one ordinary Sunday, a third of the entertainers Korea was reading about could not be read about in English at all. That number is checkable, it moves daily, and as far as we can tell nobody else is publishing it.

What we checked
- 294 of the 300 ranked articles resolved to a Wikidata item and none failed to resolve after that, so this is a complete pass over the list rather than a sample of it. Two of the 113 Korean people had no occupation recorded and are excluded from the 75 rather than counted as anything.
- One day is one day. Korean Wikipedia's most-read list moves daily, and a person who was in it on 30 August may not be there today. This is a snapshot, deliberately.
- Absent from English Wikipedia is not the same as unknown in English. Someone can have coverage in English-language press and no encyclopedia article, and this measures only the encyclopedia.
- Occupation comes from Wikidata's own labels, so someone recorded as a singer who mostly acts is counted as a singer here.
What we left out, and why
- Why each article was being read that day. A broadcast, an obituary, a scandal and an award all look identical in a pageview count, and we did not look them up.
- Every other language. Whether these people have Japanese or Chinese articles is a different measurement we did not run.
- How large the reading actually is. 3,454 reads is small next to a global breakout; the point here is who is in the list, not the size of the list.
